Tax Practitioners Board Information
As a professional accounting firm we are members of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CA) and the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). These are our industry associations and we are governed and supported by them.
The Tax Practitioners Board has asked all of its members to make their clients aware of the following three things.
1. The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) public register.
2. The availability and how to use the Tax Practitioners Board’s complaint process.
3. Your obligations to the ATO and your tax practitioner’s obligations to you, the TPB and ATO.
1. The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) public register.
The Tax Practitioners Board maintains a public register. This can be really helpful for individuals and businesses that are looking for an accountant. It allows you to identify registered BAS agents and tax agents. The register also provides important information where the Tax Practitioners Board has imposed serious sanctions on a tax practitioner.
To use the register simply follow this link https://www.tpb.gov.au/public-register
You can find more information about the register at tpb.gov.au/help-usingtpb-register
2. How to make a complaint
You can provide information or make a complaint about a tax practitioner to the Tax Practitioners Board using their online form myprofile.tpb.gov.au/complaints For more information about the complaints process visit this page tpb.gov.au/complaints
3. Your obligations to the ATO and your tax practitioner’s obligations to you, the TPB and ATO.
Here is the Information for clients factsheet issued by the Tax Practitioners Board that outlines your obligations to the ATO and your tax practitioner’s obligations to you, the TPB and ATO.
